It all started towards the end of season 1986. A club named West Footscray Utd. in the Industrial Soccer Federation was folding. The opportunity for George Bourakis to own a soccer club by clearing their debts.
1987
Leros United Soccer Club
Leros United Soccer Club was born. Nobody could have dreamed that 30 years later this social soccer club would still be in existence. From a one team club playing at a ground without dressing rooms nor any washing facilities, we now have two men’s teams and one women’s team. The Soccer Club also became a Social Club. This generated great moral and mate-ship that drove the club to championships and promotions. A bonding that created lifelong friendships.
2006

The year a dream came true. An end of season trip on our beautiful Island of Leros. Such was the excitement, the overwhelming hospitality and success of Leros United players setting foot on Leros, admiring the sights and enjoying the lifestyle, a return visit was on.

Our logo changed with the times. We hosted the Veteran Soccer Club of Leros preseason. The same year we couldn't help ourselves. We returned to Leros for the second time as an end of season holiday.

The club thrived with the introduction of a Men’s team and a Women’s team playing under the Football Federation of Victoria and our over 35's remaining under VicSoccer. This time not only our logo had to change but so did the club name. Our statistics show success from all three teams. In the past three years, Our over 35's twice runners up. The Men’s FFV gained promotion from Metropolitan division 6 to Metropolitan division 1 The Women’s team gained promotion from State league 4 West and earning promotion to State league 2 West for next season

ROBERTO PROSIA – IN MEMORY:
The following is in memory to Roberto Prosia. Roberto joined Maidstone United Soccer Club in 1995 and made an immediate impact. In 1996, he played a crucial role in our team's achievement of winning the Division 2 morning championship and securing promotion to the 1st Division. Roberto's exceptional performance earned him the Federation Top Goal Scorer award and our Club's Best & Fairest Referees Award. He also represented the Victorian squad in the National Amateur Championship.

The following year, Roberto's goals and outstanding performances helped us win the Division 1 championship. He was recognized as the Federation's Best and Fairest player of the Year. Roberto's influence extended beyond the field as he successfully convinced the club committee to change our team's strip from blue and white to yellow. He played a pivotal role in organizing the sponsorship for the new yellow jumpers. Roberto wore his famous #4 jersey with pride and was a standout person, player, and club man.

Off the field, Roberto was known for his presence and banter. He had a passion for European soccer and the Carlton Soccer Club. Whether in the dressing rooms or at work, he filled the room with his enthusiasm. Roberto was also passionate about food, particularly Greek and Italian cuisine. His love for food was evident in his towering 2-meter frame, as he would devour everything put in front of him.

Tragically, Roberto's life was cut short by cancer shortly after he married his sweetheart Lisa. However, he had the opportunity to hold his newborn son for the first time just two days before his passing. Roberto's memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him.

Every year Maidstone United celebrate the life and times of Roberto with our annual Legends day.
